My work system
My work system has evolved over the years, but essentially, it's quite dynamic. It may involve juggling multiple projects, taking the lead on design initiatives, and contributing to the overall growth and success of both the design team and the products I work on.
-
Understanding Business Goals
Collaborate with product managers, stakeholders, and possibly clients to understand the business goals, target audience, and project requirements. Conduct analysis to understand the market landscape, and potential opportunities for innovation.
-
Research and Discovery
Lead or participate in user research activities to gain insights into user needs, behaviors, and pain points. Create detailed user personas based on research findings to guide the design process.
-
Ideation and Conceptualization
Collaborate with cross-functional teams in brainstorming sessions to generate creative ideas and solutions. Create rough sketches and low-fidelity wireframes to visualize and communicate design concepts.
-
Information Architecture
Develop user flows and information architecture to map out the structure and navigation of the product. Translate concepts into wireframes, focusing on the hierarchy of information and user interactions.
-
Prototyping
Use design tools to create interactive prototypes that simulate the user experience. Conduct usability testing on prototypes to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement.
-
Visual Design
Develop the visual identity of the product, including color schemes, typography, and overall aesthetics. Contribute to or maintain design systems to ensure consistency across the product and future iterations.
-
Collaboration and Communication
Participate in and lead design reviews to gather feedback from team members and stakeholders. Clearly document design decisions, rationale, and specifications for developers and other team members.
-
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with developers to ensure the feasibility and proper implementation of designs. Provide support during the product launch phase, addressing any design-related issues that may arise.
-
Feedback and Iteration
Embrace feedback from users, team members, and stakeholders to iteratively improve designs. Collaborate with the product team to conduct A/B testing and analyze user data to inform design decisions.
-
Mentorship and Leadership
If applicable, provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers, fostering their professional development. Take on a leadership role in shaping design strategy and advocating for user-centered design principles within the organization.
-
Reflection and Learning
Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and design best practices through continuous learning. Regularly reflect on design processes and outcomes, seeking areas for personal and team improvement.
